The Atlas team will be running a Toi Toi wines funded Atlas expedition to the Wairarapa region this April on ANZAC Weekend!
The group will be arriving either Wed 24th or Thurs 25th April (ANZAC day) in Dannevirke, and basing themselves at the Dannevirke Holiday Park. Departure will be Sunday 28th April 2024 allowing 3 or 4 nights with 4-5 days Atlasing! The aim is to increase Atlas effort, day and night, across sections of the region, so it’ll be long days of Atlasing! This is a fantastic opportunity to join the group and contribute valuable bird observations to an under-surveyed area of Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Atlas Team will be co-ordinating the field camp, providing maps and dividing up squares. The aim is that members will use their own vehicles, carpooling to assist those without a vehicle. Teams will come together at the holiday park each evening to share stories and make plans for the next day. Group size will determine how the funds can be split across the group and what costs can be absorbed. Our hope is that accommodation and fuel costs can be reduced greatly using the kindly donated funding from Toi Toi wines.
