    The biggest birding day of the year — Global Big Day —took place on Saturday May 9, 2020. More than 50,000 people from around the world joined in to record their sightings.

Jeff Gerbracht and Anthony Levesque, in consultation with experts across the region, have compiled important details for all of the bird species observed in the West Indies, including abundance, seasonality, breeding status, endemism and establishment.

  • October Big Day results– a new record and more than 6,000 species in a day!

    More than 18,000 eBirders from 164 countries and territories joined together on 19 October to go birding on the second October Big Day. The global count of 6,497 species broke last year’s total of 6,360 species, setting a new October Big Day record!

    Last May, more than 30,000 people took to fields and forests around the world, noting 7,025 species in a single day—Global Big Day. A world record!
